The announcement comes as the Saxons prepare for their last match of the AJ Bell National Badminton League season, and their bid to reach this years final.
Suffolk Norse, part of the Norse Group, have already provided two coaches for university students and other fans to travel to away matches at Derby and Loughborough, and they are also keen to support the Saxon’s ambition to develop badminton further in the county with transport also being provided to home matches.
Trevor Whiting, Managing Director, Suffolk Norse said “ We are very pleased to be able to sponsor the Suffolk Saxons and to be involved in promoting badminton to the wider public in Suffolk, especially encouraging young people to support the team and to be active”.
Olympian Anthony Clark and Saxon’s head coach is as passionate about the development of badminton in Suffolk as he is about winning the AJ Bell NBL and regularly visits schools and clubs to teach and inspire youngsters, coaches and adults alike.
Anthony commented “Badminton is a sport that almost anyone can play and the response from the children and the coaches I’ve been working with has been incredible”
Anthony has also been overwhelmed by the Saxon’s fans who have been so enthusiastic at home and away matches. He added “The atmosphere at our games has been exactly what we hoped for - noisy, fun and energetic and it’s brilliant that we have so many fans who travel away to support us, thanks to Suffolk Norse”.
Anthony recently visited Howard Primary School in Bury St Edmunds where he taught three schools in the Bury Schools Partnership.
The Saxon’s last home match is on February 6th at the Ipswich Corn Exchange against a strong University of Nottingham side, led by Olympian Chris Adcock and it’s expected to be a full house. Tickets are available online from the Corn Exchange box office or call 01473 433100.
Suffolk Norse will be bringing fans from Bury St Edmunds to the last match, subject to availability. To reserve a seat please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
