Sponsor: Suffolk Sport
Suffolk Sport, the County Sports Partnership, has produced a community development plan to ensure there are appropriate opportunities for people to play badminton in Suffolk, be that at school, in a leisure centre, village hall, club or part of a performance centre. A partnership group including Suffolk Sport, Suffolk Badminton Association, Suffolk County Council, badminton leagues and community badminton networks have been charged with delivering the three year plan which focuses development within two localities per year.
Key to the success of the plan is to provide effective links between all of the opportunities in Suffolk, increasing the amount of badminton played at schools, developing the club environment to be inclusive of young and new players, working within community settings to increase the amount of court time for people to play, developing the workforce to support more people playing and to make badminton accessible to all abilities.
Ultimately, Suffolk want to create an environment were badminton is a realistic choice for anyone who wants to pick up a racket and change perceptions of what the sport can offer.
